I am pleased to share my article, now published open access in Development in Practice (Taylor & Francis), with support from Freie Universität Berlin:

The article reflects on my professional journey as a “pracademic” — working at the intersection of research and practice in international cooperation. It explores how bridging these worlds can support dialogue, partnership-building, and knowledge exchange across culturally diverse and politically sensitive contexts.
While the concept of pracademia is gaining traction in academic debates, the paper grounds this discussion in two case studies drawn from my work in Xiamen (China) and the Middle East. These experiences highlight both the opportunities and tensions involved in navigating complex political and institutional environments.
The review process was intensive and took nearly a year, in part due to the sensitivity of the cases discussed. This made the publication all the more meaningful. I am particularly glad to see it featured in Development in Practice, a journal known for engaging critically with the realities of development work.
